“I remember in one flower shop there was a whole wall covered with poison ivy, and people came from miles around to look at that wall — and they stayed to buy.”
“And the owner got rich?”
“No. He scratched himself to death in an insane asylum.”

001. "Beginners' Magic 101." Success with: levitation, summoning fire, some water (lab notes are wet!!). 002. "A Novice's Text." Problem areas: transfiguration. My pencil is now half-plant and I can't bring it back! 003. Teleportation??? Oh my gosh it is my absolute dream, but that's not until Chapter 9. The ideas are familiar, though. I understand the principles. Hm. 004. Observation: This whole thing is very odd! It's like riding a bicycle that I've never ridden before, but that I still (somehow) know how. Or like stretching a muscle that I never knew I had! There are some crossovers between magic and science, I think. It's fascinating to see where they overlap! 005. "The Theory & Practice of Wards: A Beginner's Guide." !!! Successfully shielded against my own fire. Excellent! Idea: start warding my plants against flammable damage. I hope the shields will last even when this goes away. 006. Curses and hexes???? Possibly not to be meddled with!!
[...]
Another conclusion: you know, magic also almost feels like cheating.

"Oh no, I have been dosed, please ask me questions!!"
UGH HOW DO I Since everyone is being honest ANYWAY
Three years ago, I bet a hard-earned $50 on Professor Normal besting and murdering Mr. Smart. I'm still waiting for this to be resolved, one way or another.
I think Irad and Putress are the two of the most incredible minds that this science faculty has to offer, and I honor myself to be amongst their acquaintances.
I hate that vampires are so trendy right now.
Huckleberry Finn is a wonderful combat coach.
This might sound like a strange request and I understand if anyone is squeamish and turns it down, but I'd very much like to take some quick blood samples from the infected parties, if they're willing!! It could be wonderful to incorporate into my pla It'll um be of great help in understanding exactly what happened tonight!! If not me, then at least stop by Dr. Roux's in the daytime and let her take your blood. It's for science, after all.
[DR. ROUX] Pardon me, doctor! How well-equipped are the school labs for hematology, if I may ask?
[IVY] I'm thinking of pretending that I've been dosed. Who knows how long this will last? And I mean it would be a very good opportunity to just let it all out and tell some people what I think of them, whether for good or bad.

Oh my gosh. Am I the only one who wishes she were on the island proper right now? I bet the TV doesn't do the precincts justice. They look kind of nice, frozen over.
Don't worry, I bet the ThawSquad will be there in no time.
Sebastian! We should talk.
Bea, Saoirse, Jamie, Ivy, Al, where have you all been? I'm bored. And staring at Thaddeus Archibald Mordecai Payne's diassembled crib has done nothing for me.

Errrm.
Excuse me! Has anyone seen a grading matrix from Quorum for this assignment? Um, that is, how many points are deducted for bodily harm to the baby? Is it maybe one point per trauma that would result in noticeable bruises and/or cuts? I think I might have dropped our grade by one or two points, if that's the case!! The plant has gone rogue and started chewing the baby's head and I can't remove it myself without fully decapitating the poor thing!
So as much as I hate to say it, I do need some immediate help! Room #S116, please! Chandra-Rodriguez or Davis need not apply!!
WINSTON!!!!!!!

Packing and moving all my things isn't the way I planned on spending this week! A classmate lent me his prototype Lifterbot 2000™, though, so the heavy lifting's all over and done with now. Anyway, so the exciting news is that my roommate contracted an awful strain of facehugger-slash-headcrabs, so she's been moved into Dr. Horrible's Horribly Horrible-- er, D6H. They expect her to turn into a zombie thing any moment now, so I think her parents are whisking her off for homeschooling. Very unfortunate.
What this means, though, is that our old room's been collapsed into the space-time continuum to save space. #S414 is no more. Please take note, Al, Saoirse, Beatrix, Tibby, Ivy, and other interested parties: I'm in #S116 now, with Erin Stark!
Oh, and I heard about that poisoning. Very dramatic! I'm sad I missed it. I know a lot about toxins thanks to my mother. It would have been very educational to observe the effects firsthand. [...] I am, of course, glad that no one actually died I guess?! Poison isn't the right way to go. Smart money's on plants or viruses.
